Help others prevent, prepare for and recover from disasters by becoming a volunteer. Opportunities to assist with disasters as small as a house fire to large-scale disasters such as Hurricane Katrina.

Bethany House

Bethany House is an organization dedicated to providing shelter and services to single, pregnant young women. The goal of Bethany House is to enable these women to become successful and productive citizens. Volunteers may offer their expertise in various crafts, such as quilting, knitting, budgeting classes and many more. Also needed are people to help with yard cleanup, plumbing, painting, carpet cleaning, and more.

Camp Hope Northwest – “Adding Hope to Young Lives”

Camp Hope NW is a week-long Christian camp for children ages 9-12 having a parent in prison. It is staffed by volunteers and supported by donations from individuals. Camp Hope NW takes place the third week in June at Canyonview Camp in Silverton, Oregon. Each child receives a full scholarship to attend, so there is no cost to the families. Campfire, lake swimming, hiking, crafts, archery, drama, and messy games are some of the activities that are enjoyed during the week. Website: www.camphopenw.com

Loaves & Fishes Center

Loaves & Fishes Centers provide a nutritional and social lifeline for seniors through 21 meal sites and Meals-On-Wheels delivery to homebound seniors. With the help of more than 6,600 volunteers, the nonprofit, nonsectarian agency now serves 4,000 meals daily and more than 1 million meals each year.

Volunteer opportunities include:

  • Meals-on-Wheels drivers and runners
  • CDL licensed driver for bus field trips
  • Kitchen and dining room helpers
  • Front Desk Reception assistance
  • Clerical assistance such as:
  • Telephoning seniors
  • Inputting data in the computer system
  • Filing
  • Processing mail
  • Fundraising activities and committees

My Father’s House Community Shelter

This ministry seeks to reclaim at-risk families by helping them acquire the life skills necessary to become independent and productive. It provides a safe environment where families can stay together as they address their spiritual, physical, emotional, and relational issues and needs. Support is needed through:

  • Adopting and furnishing a room
  • Childcare for the children of the residents
  • Transporting residents to appointments on an as-needed basis
  • Helping at special fund-raising events three times a year
  • Facility maintenance
  • Mentoring, tutoring, and encouraging residents
  • Picking up furniture donations and helping move residents into their new homes
  • Folding newsletter on bi-monthly basis. Lunch provided.
  • Manage a shift from a few hours to overnight

My Sister’s House

My Sister’s House is a safe home that provides shelter, education opportunities and assisted childcare for women and children in transition. The goal of this ministry is that every family will be self-supporting and life-skill confident upon leaving the program to permanent housing. www.mysistershouse.net

Snow-CAP Community Charities

This East County charity provides food, clothing, and other assistance to those in need. Assistance is needed in:

  • Pantry Helper: Pack food boxes
  • Interviewer: Talk to people in need
  • Drivers to deliver and pick up food barrels, bread and perishables
  • Other: Various other assorted jobs

Pregnancy Resource Centers exist to empower women and men to make life-affirming decisions regarding pregnancy through counseling, education, compassionate care, and the truths of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Many volunteer opportunities are available and PRC can use your help.
